The Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) Stakeholder Science Meeting draws a world-class group of partners, practitioners, and scientists with regional, national, and international inventory and monitoring missions.
The FIA program is the only comprehensive inventory for the nation’s forests and the soles source of strategic-level inventory and trend monitoring for the National Forest System, and it provides critical information to a range of scientific and industrial partners. Maintaining the Forest Service’s leadership in this area requires both regular consultation with FIA’s users, as well as periodic technical exchange among scientists cooperating with FIA in fields such as data visualization, statistical inference, and remote sensing inventory techniques.
Plans for publishing submissions to the 2019 FIA Stakeholders Science Meeting:
- A summary (provided by the presenter) of the abstract will be printed in the meeting agenda booklet.
- Presenters will have the option to submit an extended abstract (usually limited to 1 printed page) shortly after the meeting to be published in a book of abstracts by the USDA Forest Service.
- If presenters do not want to submit an extended abstract, the originally submitted abstract will be published alongside the extended abstracts. Note – users will be provided an opportunity to edit your abstract prior to publishing.
- Select submissions representing the breadth of work being done with FIA data will also be invited to be published in a Special Edition of a refereed journal.
